Abstract
The activities of F. E. Dzerzhinsky as People's Commissar of Railways, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the National Economy in charge of the restoration of transport, agriculture, industrialization, the creation of new industries, the development of scientific research that ensured the economic independence of the USSR are revealed. His attention is shown to the search for internal sources of financing for industrialization, the economy regime; science used in production; management. The relevance of Dzerzhinsky's economic activity for the current state of Russia is noted
