Abstract
The author refers to the concept of falsification of history and considers it on the example of Russian and foreign cinematography. Classification of historical falsifications in cinema is given, examples of various falsifications in films are given. The question of why distortion of reality in the movie industry is sometimes forgivable is addressed. As a result, it is concluded that the problems of falsification of historical events and phenomena become especially relevant in our days, as the cinema acts as an educator and enlightener of citizens
