Abstract
The article deals with the first period of the formation of the Soviet state in the context of the search for language forms and patterns corresponding to the changing world picture. The cultural and political background influencing the changing content of the Russian world is analyzed. Attention is emphasized on the individual functions of language and their role in the formation of mechanisms of influence on the consciousness of the masses. For the first time the sources previously used in linguistics and literary studies are involved in the concrete-historical analysis
